Yes, but repayment of your reverse mortgage loan must be made in accordance with HUD guidelines. All HECM loans are considered non-recourse. This means that the HECM borrower (or his or her estate) will never owe more than the loan balance or value of the property, whichever is less; And no assets other than the home can be used to repay the debt. However, if the borrower (or estate) desire to retain ownership of the property, the mortgage debt must be repaid in full as opposed the paying the lesser of the loan balance of the value of the property.
